MECHANICAL PIPING / NYC & NATIONWIDE

Mechanical Piping Drafting Services for Contractors

Buildable shop drawings, coordinated Revit piping models and fabrication documentation for the teams installing the work.

Steel Line Designs helps mechanical contractors move a piping scope from contract documents to a coordinated drawing package. Bring us in for a defined mechanical room, a fabrication release or additional drafting capacity when your team has more work than it can cover. Based in Eastchester, New York, we support New York City projects and work remotely with contractors nationwide.

Mechanical Piping Shop Drawings

A piping shop drawing package connects design intent with the details required to install the work. We develop plans, sections, elevations and details from the contract drawings, project specifications, equipment submittals, available models and field information. The agreed scope determines which areas, systems and deliverables belong in the package.

Drawings can show pipe routing, sizes, fittings, elevations, dimensions, valve arrangements and equipment connections. Sections help explain congested areas and mechanical rooms where a plan alone does not show enough. We track missing information and raise coordination questions for review before it becomes a fabrication or installation decision.

Mechanical Room Coordination

Mechanical rooms need more than a piping route that fits in the model. Pump, chiller, heat exchanger and air-handling equipment connections need to work with access, insulation, support arrangements and the surrounding trades. Our drafting process considers the space required to operate valves, maintain equipment, assemble connections and install the piping.

We help project teams review those details together. Equipment submittals and field conditions may change a connection or a route; unresolved decisions should remain visible until the project team confirms them. A coordinated drawing package gives the field a clearer picture of what has been agreed and what still needs attention.

Hydronic Piping Systems

Chilled water, heating water and condenser water systems are central to our mechanical piping work. Documentation can cover equipment rooms, risers, distribution piping and connections to terminal equipment. The level of detail is matched to your installation and fabrication needs, rather than adding detail that does not help the crew build the scope.

For a retrofit, send the available existing-condition drawings and identify what must be retained, removed or connected. Where records are incomplete, scanning and field information can help establish the conditions that the new work must fit.

Pipe Spool and Fabrication Drawings

Prefabrication packages break a coordinated piping scope into identifiable pieces that the shop and field can track. Spool isometrics can include dimensions, fittings, connection information and bills of materials. We agree on the spool breakdown, naming and required detail with your team so the output follows your fabrication workflow.

Fabrication planning also needs an installation strategy. Assembly order, transport limits, access and field connections affect how a system should be divided. Equipment confirmation and critical field dimensions should be reviewed before the affected spools are released.

BIM Piping Coordination

We use Revit for piping modeling and Navisworks for coordination review. A coordinated model helps the team inspect piping routes against equipment, structure and neighboring services. Clash review is paired with practical questions about access and installation; a model can be free of geometric clashes and still need a better route.

We support scope-based coordination and revisions, with agreed model and drawing outputs. Share your model requirements, meeting schedule and file delivery expectations so the coordination work fits into the larger project workflow.

Scan-to-BIM and As-Built Drawings

Renovation and retrofit scopes depend on reliable existing-condition information. Scanning captures visible conditions that can support a Revit model or as-built drawing package. We define the capture area, required model detail and deliverables around the decisions your team needs to make.

Point clouds do not show concealed conditions or identify every component. Critical connections, obscured areas and information that affects fabrication may still require field verification. Establishing those limits early helps the team use the model appropriately.

Who We Work With

Mechanical contractors, HVAC contractors, piping contractors and fabrication teams. We can provide a defined drawing package or support an existing drafting team with additional project capacity. The goal is consistent documentation that fits your review process and the way your crews build.

Start with Your Scope and Schedule

Send the project drawings, specifications, available models and equipment submittals. Tell us the systems and areas involved, required outputs, target release dates and any known field constraints. We review the information, define the package and identify open questions before starting.

Need help deciding whether your project needs shop drawings, coordination, spool packages or existing-condition modeling? Share what you are trying to build and where the work is getting held up. We can discuss the deliverables that fit that scope.
